Meet the Doctor

Dr. Mitchell Simon

I have lived and practiced in the Brighton/Brookline community since 1984, and have provided care to generations of families, seeing grandparents, parents, and their children for numerous health conditions.

My Story: The Path to Chiropractic
I was very athletic and enjoyed good health throughout my childhood and early twenties. But, I became extremely concerned about drastic changes in my body after having a major ski fall while in college in New York.

After the accident, I started experiencing intense aches and pains which spread throughout the muscles in my neck and upper back. My neck and shoulders were so stiff I couldn’t turn my head. I also experienced numbness and tingling in my arms, hands and fingers. Though I had always been full of energy, feelings of extreme fatigue, persistent headaches, and jaw pain were new and worrisome to me. Every day, I awoke feeling dizzy and at night, I had problems sleeping.

I exhausted all medical options, consulting the best specialists in New York. Nothing was detected. I kept waiting for a doctor to diagnose my condition, but test after test came back negative. I grew more anxious as the months passed.

After about one year of living in pain and discomfort, I was referred to a well-known chiropractor. To my surprise, the chiropractor was the first doctor to actually palpate, or feel, tender points in the muscles and detect spinal misalignment causing nerve interference.  I was put on a plan of spinal adjustments, a process that was not painful but instead offered relief, for the first time in months.

My chiropractor’s holistic approach to health included a personalized regimen of regular spinal adjustments, exercise, stress reduction, and a nutritional program. I continued to see my chiropractor on a regular basis and over time, I gradually changed my diet, reduced caffeine intake and began taking natural supplements. Exercise once more became a part of my daily routine and I began swimming, biking, and working out regularly.

As you can see, I was profoundly affected by the care that my chiropractor provided. But more importantly, he became my mentor when I made the life-changing decision to switch majors from business to pre-med. Upon graduating from SUNY Albany, I undertook a four year doctorate program from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois.  In 1983, I graduated and relocated to the Boston area where I opened my practice in May, 1984.

A Holistic Approach To Health
In keeping with our growing knowledge of how to achieve total health, I use chiropractic adjustments to restore the body to its optimum form and function. Chiropractic care clears the path for the body to maintain its own health.

In addition to the spinal adjustment, I incorporate other healing modalities, such as exercise, yoga, nutrition, and stress reduction. I truly believe that healing comes from a positive mental attitude.

I invite you and your family to participate in chiropractic care and experience for yourself the benefits of spinal health.
